Today, after two months of growing, my new avocado sprouted!
This is a moment for great rejoicing because my last avocado plant – the one that lived for three years and was cared for by my padres for a whole third of its life – got fungus gnats. Incidentally it was also never fertilized, something I’ve since learned is necessary. Maybe this is why it looks so sad. Rest in peace, old avocado plant, and know that armed with cinnamon, lemongrass oil, and dawn detergent, I’ll take better care of this one.
